Amateur Piano Workshop Day
Held at the beautiful 12th Century Church, St Mary’s in Perivale

We are fully booked for performers but we have plenty of observer spaces. There are 2 masterclasses with Graham Fitch and Dr. Mark Polishook.

Throughout the day there will be plenty of time for tea and coffee breaks, chatting, socialising and lunch at a pub (or you can bring a packed lunch). Fran will be making some delicious home-baked treats for us.

Bring along any sheet music that you no longer require for our ‘Sheet Music Swap’ table.

In addition to the masterclasses above, there will be group sessions on performance anxiety and stagecraft including hand-outs.

The day lasts from 9.45am to 5pm. We will head to The Myllet Arms pub afterwards (and also at lunchtime!)

Observers: £30
Performer place for masterclass with Graham Fitch: £50 (special price due to late cancellation)

Outline of the Day

9.45: Arrival & Refreshments

10.00: Warm up exercises. Performance Anxiety group.

10.30 – 12.30: ‘Improv for Classical Pianists‘ with Dr. Mark Polishook. Have you always wanted to know how to improvise but you don’t know where to start? Bring a piece you are working on (a classical piano piece is fine) and Mark will use this as the basis to learn to improvise. Mark returns by demand after his incredibly popular workshop in February.

12.45 – 1.45 – Lunch

2.00 – 4.00 – ‘Practising the Piano‘ Masterclass with Graham Fitch.

4.00 – Tea/Coffee

4.15 – 5.00 – Informal performance opportunity. Each Masterclass participant will have up to 5 minutes to perform.
