Music Aptitude Test training for 2023 Admissions

It’s that time of year again when we start receiving lots of enquiries for 1-to-1 tuition to help Year 5 students prepare for the upcoming Music Scholarship exams.

We are offering Zoom tuition to help you prepare for the Music Aptitude Tests and you can book this online. If you do not see a suitable time or date please keep checking back as we will add more dates. Our teachers have the most availability during the half-term break and Summer holidays. During term-time we have some space on Friday and Saturday as detailed in the schedule here. No other times are available and we are unable to offer phone or email support before you book a lesson due to the high number of enquiries we receive every day.

BOOK ONLINE

We also have training tests available to help familiarise you with the style of tests you will hear on the day. Please note these will never be the exact same test you will hear as every single school uses a different test and it changes each year. However we have been using the tests successfully to help students gain places at their chosen schools and they are best used with the assistance of your music teacher. We advise practising earlier rather than last minute for the test!

Where to buy a piano in South London

An acoustic piano is an investment that will bring you many years of joy through music-making. I just ordered a new piano today from @pianolobby and can’t wait for it to arrive at the piano school in East Dulwich in the next few days. Our old digital piano is being donated to Westminster House Youth Club in Nunhead.

We were overwhelmed with entries for our sold-out first Fundraising Online Piano Festival for Westminster House Youth Club in Nunhead and have decided to run this event again in August on Tuesday 11th at 4pm. We are delighted to say we raised £175 for the charity through your entries.

ENTRIES NOW OPEN

Join us for an online piano festival where you can play your pieces on Zoom and receive feedback, an e-certificate and a medal. We will also award one Trophy per class. Medals and trophies are available for collection from us in SE22 after the event.

Entry to the competition is by a minimum £10 donation per pianist. We have been fundraising during lockdown for a children’s Youth Club in Nunhead called Westminster House and have raised over £780 so far since the end of March. Your participation in this event will help us boost this total even further. The Youth Club are providing weekly free meals and a foodbank for the vulnerable young people that use the club.

Ask your teacher which class you should enter and which pieces(s) you will play. We previously had a deadline to enter but the places all filled up well before the deadline therefore we are advising you enter early but there is no deadline to enter. Once all tickets are sold out, no more can be added.

DO NOT ENTER TBC ON YOUR ENTRY AS THIS CAUSES AN ONEROUS AMOUNT OF ADMIN FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS TO EMAIL AND CHASE YOU UP FOR THE CORRECT INFORMATION THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ENTERED AT THE TIME OF ENTRY. EDITING OR AMENDING ANY ENTRIES FOR ANY REASON INCURS A £5 DONATION TO THE CHARITY PAGE .
