Hear it Live! at the Horniman Museum & Gardens

From the Horniman‘s web site:

As part of our new At Home With Music display, we are hosting a live performance on our 1772 Kirckman harpsichord in the Music Gallery on the last Tuesday of each month.

On Tuesday 30 September, Lorraine Liyanage will perform selected pieces.

Lorraine Liyanage

J.S. Bach – Allemande from French Suite no.4
Sweelinck – Ballo del Granduca
J.S. Bach – Gigue from French Suite no.5
Graham Lynch – Ay!
Soler – Sonata no.7 in C major

Lorraine Liyanage is a harpsichord based in East Dulwich. She will perform the UK premiere of Graham Lynch’s piece Ay! for solo harpsichord. ‘Ay!’ being a declamation of pain or sorrow that appears in some of the early poems of Lorca. The piece is a fusion of a tango rhythms with modal Spanish melodic lines and harmonies.

London Piano Meetup Group featured in Pianist magazine

Myself and a colleague, Frances Wilson, run a group for adult amateur pianists called the London Piano Meetup Group. The group was initially set up to encourage my adult piano students to perform to an audience of pianists of a similar age. From a meeting in my front room, the group has grown to a twice-monthly social gathering of pianists and piano enthusiasts in the Central London area. We were delighted to be featured in the latest issue of Pianist Magazine. You can read the full article here.

The first Notes&Notes concert is on 14th September 2014 with Graham Fitch, who will perform and talk about works by Bach and Haydn. The concert takes place in the beautiful Arts and Crafts setting of Craxton Studios, former home of Harold Craxton, in Hampstead, north London.
