Christmas Carols for Beginners by Jessie Blake (Duets)

One of my first memories of duet playing is Jessie Blake’s Eight Duets for Beginners. I used to love playing these pieces with my teacher – The Old Banjo and Pink Parasol are timeless classics!

Christmas Duets by Jessie Blake

There is also a very easy beginner Christmas Carols book in the same series and this is ideal for students that have only been learning for a term or so. Do pick up a copy this week and we can have some Christmas songs ready in time for the 25th of December! If this book isn’t in stock at the local music shop, do try these two instead. The John Thompsons Solo Christmas book and also the Duet Christmas books. The solo book is better suited to beginner pianists as the duet book is quite tricky and also features lesser known carols. We  have a copy of both books in our piano studio in East Dulwich and have been using these with our students since the start of this half-term.

Our favourite Christmas songs for piano (intermediate level)

Music arranged by Nikki Iles is always incredibly popular with our pianists, particularly teenagers and adults learning the piano as the jazzy arrangements appeal to a wide audience.

Here is an excerpt of The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) taken from Nikki’s book Jazz On A Winter’s Night Book 1

Newly released, Nikki’s Jazz On A Winter’s Night Book 1 is as fantastic as the first book! Here is We Three Kings:
