The beginning of a new school year is a natural time to establish a regular musical routine. SE22 Piano School is now welcoming new pupils for a limited number of weekly piano lesson spaces during the Autumn 2026 term at our East Dulwich studio.
We teach children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to more experienced musicians. Lessons are shaped around the individual pupil: their age, experience, musical interests and the way they learn best.

Why regular music lessons matter
Learning an instrument is not about producing instant results. Musical confidence grows through regular listening, practice, curiosity and a supportive relationship with a teacher who understands the individual student.
A weekly piano lesson gives pupils the time and structure to develop:
- secure musical foundations;
- listening and aural awareness;
- coordination and technique;
- concentration and persistence;
- confidence in performing and expressing their own ideas; and
- an enjoyable, lasting relationship with music.
These skills develop gradually. Beginning in the autumn allows music to become part of the pupil’s normal weekly rhythm, rather than something rushed into the weeks before an examination, audition or school admissions process.
For younger pupils, a regular lesson can become a dependable creative space within a busy school week. For adults, it can provide an opportunity to return to an instrument, learn something new or finally make time for a long-postponed goal.
A local musical community in East Dulwich
SE22 Piano School has been part of the East Dulwich community since 2007. Our teachers have worked with local families through many stages of their musical lives: first lessons, graded examinations, school performances, scholarship preparation, advanced study and the simple pleasure of playing at home.
Continuity matters. When lessons continue over months and years, a teacher can understand how each pupil learns, respond to changing interests and build carefully on the skills already established. This is especially valuable for children, whose confidence and musical identity need time to grow.
Our aim is to offer thoughtful, individual tuition rather than a one-size-fits-all course. Some pupils enjoy classical repertoire and examinations; others are motivated by film music, popular songs, improvisation, composition or playing purely for enjoyment. All of these can form part of a serious and rewarding musical education.

The following regular weekly spaces are available at the time of publication. All are 30-minute, in-person lessons at our East Dulwich studio.

Alexandra Kremakova M.Mus — Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Alexandra holds a Master’s degree in Piano Performance and a Postgraduate Artist Diploma from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She works with pupils across a broad range of levels and can also teach in Russian or Bulgarian to students with a basic level of proficiency in either language.

Ben Kavanagh BA, MISM — Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
Ben teaches beginner to advanced pupils. A pianist, composer and experienced performer, he enjoys classical and popular repertoire as well as music from film, television and gaming. He can also support pupils who are interested in arranging and composing their own music.

Mirnalfonsina Grisolia — Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
Mirna is SE22 Piano School’s Deputy Head Teacher and Music Scholarship Specialist. She teaches pupils of all ages and is experienced in Music Aptitude Test and music-scholarship preparation. She can also teach piano in Spanish to students with a basic level of proficiency in the language.

Rosa Northover-Lynch — Saturdays
Rosa’s musical background includes classical piano, Cuban piano, orchestral percussion and performance in a variety of bands and ensembles. She holds an ATCL Diploma in Piano Performance as well as Grade 8 Piano and Grade 8 Orchestral Percussion.

Finding the right teacher and lesson
There is no single correct reason to begin piano lessons. A new pupil may want to:
- start the piano for the first time;
- return after a break;
- build confidence and establish a regular practice routine;
- work towards graded examinations;
- develop aural skills, theory or composition;
- prepare for a school music scholarship or Music Aptitude Test; or
- play simply for enjoyment.

There is no separate enquiry questionnaire. The session you book is the pupil’s first lesson, giving the teacher and pupil an opportunity to meet, begin making music and discuss what they would like to work towards.
